Sunday, November 26, I went and picked up George from the hospital and brought him home. He was so happy to be back in his recliner!

He was sent home with instruction on how to take his blood sugar four times a day and administer his insulin before each meal and at bedtime. This will only continue as long as he is on the steroids, which cause his blood sugar to spike.

This time around, George came home from the hospital weaker than ever before. His legs had lost so much muscle mass due to inactivity, he finds it hard to come up stairs. He also has to stop and catch his breath when climbing stairs and walking for any substantial distance.

George went back to work in his home office and his next appointment was scheduled for Friday, December 1st for an infusion of platelets. We got into the groove of testing his blood sugar and giving insulin injections before meals. He was getting up and walking around and trying to rebuild strength in his legs.
A home nurse from Bayada came out to assess him and assist with any instructions we needed for giving insulin, etc. She believed that George was a fall risk and suggested physical therapy. That sounded great! So she set it up and we were looking forward to hearing from the physical therapist.
And then Friday morning came…..
